PEAT Clinical Trials

The Department of Education's National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) has funded a three-year study for clinical trials of PEAT.  The study is being performed at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California. Valley Medical Center is a leader in brain injury rehabilitation and has been working with PEAT for many years.

Title:  Efficacy of a Custom-Fitting Cognitive Orthotic with Automatic Planning and Cueing Assistance

Overall goal: Study the efficacy of PEAT versus the “community standard” for cognitive/memory aids

  • 115 subjects will receive either PEAT or the community standard for 6 months

  • Each subject has a 50% chance of receiving PEAT vs. the community standard (which generally means a paper memory notebook, but may include an off-the-shelf electronic reminder system).
